Visibilai and other kinds of AI visibility tools
An honest look at the main kinds of tools a Shopify merchant meets when asking “how do I get found by AI assistants and search engines?”, including the free tools Shopify and others already give you.
These are broad categories, not specific products. Individual tools differ and change often, so check each one’s current features. Last reviewed 1 November 2026.
| Visibilai | llms.txt generators | SEO suites with AI add-ons | Enterprise GEO trackers | Free first-party tools | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Main job | A GEO audit and GEO Score, approved improvements, and results from your real traffic for one Shopify store | Create or edit an llms.txt file | Classic search rankings, with AI mentions added | Brand visibility across many AI assistants, often for marketing teams | Shopify’s Agentic section, Google Merchant Center and Bing Webmaster Tools reports |
| Based on asked AI answers | A sample, shown as ranges: ChatGPT on every plan, Perplexity on Growth and Enterprise, Claude on Enterprise, through their official APIs. Answers differ by person, place and time, so your real traffic and search data are the proof | No | Often; methods vary | Yes, usually many assistants; some use APIs, some read the consumer apps | Each platform reports on its own channel only |
| Level of detail | Per product and per page | Whole site | Usually keywords and pages | Usually brands and prompts | Varies by platform |
| Changes your Shopify product data | Yes, only after approval, and each change can be undone | Writes a file; Shopify already serves one | Rarely | Usually recommendations only | You edit the data yourself |
| Shows AI-referred orders | Yes, from your Shopify orders | No | Usually traffic, not orders | Varies | Shopify shows AI-channel orders in the admin |
| Install and billing | Shopify app, billed by Shopify, 7-day trial | Often a small Shopify app | Separate account and subscription | Separate contract, often annual | Included |
| Good fit for | Shopify brands that want product-level improvements with approval and undo, and proof from their own numbers | Developer and agent tooling more than visibility | Teams that already live in an SEO suite | Large brands and agencies tracking many assistants | Everyone: use them alongside any tool |
When another kind of tool is a better fit
- You want to watch what AI assistants say about your brand across many assistants. Visibilai asks only the assistants of your plan, a limited set of test prompts about your products, and shows a sample. Brand-level trackers cover more, with the same caveat that answers are not reproducible. The free reports from Google Merchant Center and Bing Webmaster Tools show those platforms’ own AI data.
- Your main goal is classic search rankings. An SEO suite is built for that. Search results still feed many AI answers, so it is time well spent.
- You track a brand, not a product catalog. Brand-level trackers cover more assistants and more marketing use cases.
- You are not on Shopify. Visibilai only works with Shopify stores.
Where Visibilai fits
- It starts from your catalog and your pages: the GEO audit finds what stands in the way of AI assistants.
- It proposes improvements inside Shopify (category details, AI-friendly titles and descriptions, Q&A, article drafts, translations, reviews crawlers can read, crawler access, Catalog eligibility) and lets you apply them with approve and undo.
- It tracks a sample of how assistants answer test prompts about your products, shown as ranges with a caveat.
- It closes the loop with your own numbers: AI-referred orders and visits, Search Console, Google Analytics and Bing data, compared 7 days after you apply changes.
About llms.txt
Shopify already serves an llms.txt file for every store, and you can customise it in your theme. Independent studies have found that most llms.txt files are rarely or never fetched, and no link between having one and being cited. A tool that only writes this file is unlikely to change what AI assistants recommend. Read the evidence.
Use the free first-party data too
Whatever tool you choose, look at what the platforms report about themselves: the Agentic section in your Shopify admin, the AI performance reports in Google Merchant Center, and the AI performance report in Bing Webmaster Tools. They are free, and they show real platform data that no outside tool can see.
